The Glass Museum app invites you to the Rheinbach Glass Museum and provides information about the permanent exhibition “Bohemian Glass in Biographies”, the museum shop, opening times and admission prices. In five languages - German, English, French, Dutch and Czech - the app accompanies visitors through the exhibition, tells "crystal clear" stories and gives surprising answers to many questions, such as:What kind of glass has been produced by which craftsmen for which customers in Bohemia over the past 400 years? What does Count Kinsky have to do with Bohemian glass? Who were the home porters and why were they absolutely necessary for the smooth flow of glass production and processing? The biographies of eight personalities who played a key role in the history of Bohemian glass give you a new, personal approach to the history of glass processing. The engraver and glass dealer Franz Georg Kreybich from Steinschönau, who around 1700 made more than 30 sales trips to many regions of Europe, including Moscow, London, Constantinople (todays Istanbul) and Transylvania, is there as well as the entrepreneur and versatile inventor Friedrich Egermann or the masterful glass painter Alfred Strobach.Rheinbach is also called the "City of Glass". After the Second World War, Sudeten German glass artists and glassmakers from Bohemia settled here. They founded a glass technical school and shaped the glass scene and cultural life in Rheinbach. The Rheinbach Glass Museum, founded in 1968, shows a unique selection of glass objects in the historic Himmeroder Hof, from the baroque with typical, punky refinements to modern, international studio glass with individual and free design. In the museum shop, Rheinbacher glass designers present themselves with a large assortment of glass gift items - from sandblasted, engraved or painted lanterns to hand-blown vases and bowls using the technique of fusing glass to cabinet windows, glass sculptures, jewelry and seasonal items. The glass museum is located in Himmeroder Hof, Himmeroder Wall 6, in 53359 Rheinbach. The Römerkanal Infocenter, the Nature Park Center and the Rheinbach Cultural Center are also located on site and are presented in the app.
